The Fringe of something all right

So I spent almost all of "The No Brainer" mystified at what a silly, silly episode it was. Did they just assume that the average viewer of Fringe has never seen Videodrome? And did the reuniting of Pacey and Grams make it better or worse?

But then the last five minutes or so, well it made it a little less silly. Amazing how just a little bit of subtle and satisfying character work can overcome 40 minutes of regurgitated effects and heavy-handed intercutting and thematic parallels.

ps. Who am I kidding -- of course the reuniting of Pacey and Grams made the episode better. I was as giddy as a teenage girl in WB-era 1998.

You really need to follow your own advice of two posts back and watch The Wire. Frank Sobotka and Chris both guest starred on this episode. Lance Reddick 2, Joshua Jackson 1.
