The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this book so much that I may just have contracted my mother's bizarre fascination for books featuring orphans. (Oliver Twist just jumped up 200 places on my to-read list.) Megan Abbott once said that for stories to work they have to move and devastate. This did both to me in spades. Hannah Tinti is someone I'm keeping an eye out for, this was incredible.

ps. I think Tinti said she it took her six years to write this. So she should be due for another soon, right?
